Will my new posting system work or will it explode on my face? Let's see!
This is my first time trying out my new posting system!
In making this, I had one major rule: no overengineering. Well, I might have underengineered a bit because this is like typing in the terminal. I feel like my audience is my own kernel.If you feel the need to tell me the terminal doesn’t talk to the kernel, please rethink your outlook on life.
Still, it is better than having different apps for every little job that needs doing, isn’t it? That brings semi-nostalgic images of kitchens in the 00s, full of one-use kitchen gadgets (often telemarketing products that found their forever home in my grandma’s cupboard) that are only good at one specific task, and, more often than not, not even that good at it.
Mindful as I am of my digital ecosystem becoming an across-time-and-space counterpart of those dark cupboards where those lumps of plastic go to die, and in fear that a pile of barely-used unitasker apps are going to fall on my head like egg-slicers and herb scissors balancing on top of tupperware containersI’m convinced these same containers have been beamed in into everyone’s kitchen, a la Terminator., I took the step. No more GUI. Just words. Letters and symbols, and nothing more.
Well, I’m on paragraph four, and what can I say? I like it.
Writing in a simple, distraction-free, monospace, white-on-black (for me) environment is gracefully luxurious in a way. It reminds me of having only a pen and a piece of paper, and my mind bursting with ideas and concepts I wanted to make real by jotting them down. God knows I eventually wrote so few of them.
